For the Track: Cooling and More Precise Control

The damping has been revised in +R mode: Honda says the changes reduce body hop and harsh impacts. For the driver, the aim is to hold the chosen line more precisely over uneven surfaces. This should not be taken as proof of a softer ride in every mode, however, since the manufacturer's description applies specifically to +R.
Two other changes affect the actions taken before a corner. An additional spring in the brake-pedal mechanism reduces play, while Rev Match raises engine speed more quickly during downshifts. The standard Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires in size 265/30 ZR19 are summer tires. Honda expressly states that they are not intended for winter driving. Heated seats improve comfort in cold weather, but a separate seasonal tire set will still be needed.

For owners of the previous Type R, replacing the car calls for a back-to-back test drive: quoted power has not increased, and the effect of the revised settings has so far been described primarily by the manufacturer.
