On October 1, 2026, Toyota introduced the Grand Highlander Woodland Edition for the US market. It is a seven-seat version of the three-row crossover with a hybrid powertrain, all-wheel drive, all-terrain tires and several features designed for family trips. What has changed
According to Toyota's October 1 announcement, the Woodland is based on XLE Hybrid equipment. It comes with standard all-wheel drive, 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires and springs that, together with the tires, add half an inch of ground clearance. That helps on uneven roads leading to a campsite, but Toyota has not published separate off-road test results for the Woodland.

For a trailer, the towing line is the one that matters: the Woodland's standard tow hitch does not raise its permitted weight to the Hybrid MAX level. Before buying a trailer, check the specific vehicle's certification label and local regulations, especially if the vehicle was imported from the US.
What families get inside
The Woodland seats seven people, with two separate captain's chairs in the second row. Toyota places a removable cooler between them that, according to the company, holds six 12-ounce cans. If access to the third row is more important, the cooler can be removed. The cargo area includes lighting and a tray with sliding dividers, while all-weather mats protect against dirty shoes and gear.
Equipment also includes crossbars on the roof rails, fog lights, mudguards and 120-volt outlets for second-row passengers and in the cargo area. Toyota lists up to 1500 watts for this system. For buyers outside the US, two questions matter: whether the voltage is suitable for their devices and what total load is permitted for the specific vehicle.
What to check on the specific vehicle
The removable cooler makes it easier to reach the rear, but it does not add cargo space by itself. If the family regularly travels with seven occupants, check the third-row seating position and the available luggage space with the seats raised. When inspecting an imported vehicle, verify the cooler, crossbars, tow hitch and outlet instructions separately: the trim description does not replace the equipment list for the individual vehicle.
The Grand Highlander lineup generally includes three-zone climate control, seven USB-C ports and a 12.3-inch central display. The official 2027 model page helps distinguish the Woodland from the separate bZ Woodland electric vehicle: they are different vehicles with different powertrains.
Safety and electronic features
For the 2027 Grand Highlander, Toyota lists the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite as standard. It includes, among other features, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also listed as standard. These systems assist the driver but do not replace attention to the road.
The Woodland supports a digital key through the Toyota app. According to the manufacturer's terms, it requires an active subscription or Remote Connect trial period, as well as mobile connectivity. If the vehicle is to be used outside the US, check the availability of connected features separately: the vehicle's equipment and service availability in another country are two different things.
When to expect the vehicle and what currently applies only to the US
The timeline is short: on October 1, 2026, Toyota announced the Woodland Edition, while the page with the official lineup price list is dated October 2. The company expects deliveries of the 2027 Grand Highlander to US dealers by the end of 2026; the announcement does not specify the exact sales start date.
