XPENG L03 Makes Its Global Debut: Electric and Range-Extended Versions Compared

Вопросы и ответы

The XPENG L03 is offered as a fully electric vehicle and as a REEV with a petrol engine that operates as a generator. European electric versions include rear-wheel-drive Standard Range and Long Range trims, plus all-wheel-drive Performance versions.

The electric versions are listed with WLTP ranges of up to 440 km, 445 km or 520 km, depending on the trim. The REEV is claimed to provide more than 200 km on electric power and up to 1,000 km in total. These figures remain preliminary until homologation is completed.

Orders are already being accepted in Germany, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026. The REEV version is expected to become available in Germany in autumn 2026.

On 16.07.2026, XPENG held the global presentation of the L03 crossover in Munich. The manufacturer announced that the model is intended for 65 countries and regions, although this does not mean deliveries will begin simultaneously in every market. Orders are already being accepted in Germany, with the first vehicles scheduled to reach customers in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The XPENG L03 will be available as a fully electric vehicle and as a REEV with a petrol generator. European buyers should not confuse the specifications of these versions with data for the Chinese Mona L03: battery capacities, luggage space, equipment and range-testing procedures may differ.

Key XPENG L03 launch dates

  • 02.07.2026 — XPENG opened pre-orders for the Mona L03 in China, according to Chinese automotive publications.

  • 16.07.2026 — XPENG held the global L03 presentation in Munich. On the same day, the brand's German division opened its configurator and began accepting orders.

  • Autumn 2026 — the REEV version with a range extender is expected to become available in Germany.

  • Fourth quarter of 2026 — deliveries of the L03 to German customers are scheduled to begin.

At the global presentation, XPENG also announced a partnership with Google Maps. Details of the launch and navigation integration are available in the official XPENG announcement.

The stated European figures remain preliminary until mandatory homologation is completed. Final energy-consumption and range figures in the registration documents may therefore change slightly.

What the two battery options and rear-wheel drive offer

The base version uses a 58.3 kWh LFP battery. Its 180 kW electric motor is mounted at the rear, and maximum torque is 264 N·m. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 7.5 seconds, while top speed is limited to 180 km/h.

The Long Range keeps the same power output and drivetrain, but its battery capacity increases to 71.2 kWh. WLTP range rises from 445 to 520 km, while acceleration to 100 km/h improves to 6.6 seconds.

The Long Range appears to be the most balanced choice for long-distance travel: it retains rear-wheel drive, offers the highest claimed range and supports a higher peak fast-charging rate.

Why the specifications show two charging times

XPENG uses a 400-volt electrical architecture. The Standard Range has a claimed peak DC charging rate of 193 kW, while the Long Range supports 236 kW.

The configurator quotes around 20 minutes for a 10–80% charge. The German division's official announcement gives a figure of 18 minutes, but for a 20–80% charge. These are different intervals, so the figures do not directly contradict each other.

Actual charging speed will depend on battery temperature, the station's power output, the current state of charge and whether the battery was preconditioned by the navigation system before the vehicle reached the charging station.

How the REEV version works

In the REEV, the wheels are driven by an electric motor. The 1.5-litre petrol engine is not mechanically connected to the wheels and is used to generate electricity. The 37.25 kWh battery can be charged from an external power source, as in a plug-in hybrid.

The German version is claimed to offer more than 200 km of electric-only driving and up to 1000 km of total range. The final fuel-consumption, energy-consumption and emissions figures are due to be published after homologation.

This version is intended for drivers who want electric drive for daily journeys but do not want to depend entirely on charging infrastructure on longer routes. However, the REEV is more complex and heavier than a conventional electric vehicle because it carries a traction battery, fuel tank and engine-generator at the same time.

Dimensions, luggage space and equipment

The European XPENG L03 is 4650 mm long, 1920 mm wide and 1600 mm high. Its wheelbase is 2850 mm. The model seats five people, and its claimed turning circle is 10.5 metres.

The rear-wheel-drive electric versions have a front trunk with a capacity of up to 89 litres. The main luggage compartment in German specification holds 367 litres. These figures should not be replaced with the capacities published for the Chinese Mona L03, as the European vehicle has a different configuration.

The cabin features an 8.88-inch digital instrument panel, a 15.6-inch central display and a 26.8-inch head-up display. Standard equipment includes a heat pump, panoramic roof, dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, a power tailgate and the XPILOT ASSIST suite. Further details about the design and technology are available on the official XPENG L03 model page.

What Google Maps integration will change

XPENG says the L03 will be the brand's first overseas model with navigation built on the Google Maps Auto SDK. The system will be integrated into the vehicle's interface, so the driver will not need to launch a separate smartphone app or mirror it onto the car's screen.

The navigation system will be able to account for traffic conditions, search for destinations, calculate routes and estimate energy consumption. Map data is also planned to support XPILOT ASSIST and NGP in markets where the relevant functions are permitted and available.

The mention of NGP does not make the L03 a self-driving car. The available functions are driver-assistance systems, and the driver must continue to monitor the road and remains responsible for controlling the vehicle.

What has not yet been disclosed

  • the full list of countries where sales will begin first;

  • prices and equipment levels outside the European configurators already launched;

  • final certified WLTP figures;

  • detailed charging and energy-consumption specifications for the REEV version;

  • exact dates for the arrival of expanded NGP functions in each country.

The global launch in 65 countries and regions demonstrates the scale of XPENG's plans, but the availability of a specific version should be checked on the brand's local website. For the European market, four fully electric trim levels, a REEV version and the start of German deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2026 have already been confirmed.
