Ford Mustang Mach-E 2027: Larger Standard Battery and New Trail Package

Frequently asked questions

The Extended Range battery is standard across the 2027 Mustang Mach-E lineup. The Select and Premium use 88 kWh of usable capacity, while the GT and Rally use 91 kWh.

The Trail package is available only for the all-wheel-drive Select eAWD. It costs $2,295 and includes suspension changes, Rally-derived steering hardware, 19-inch wheels and Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires.

No. For the Trail, BlueCruise hardware must be selected when the vehicle is ordered and cannot be added later. Hardware preparation and service access are separate requirements.

On October 22, 2026, Ford introduced updates to the Mustang Mach-E for the U.S. market and opened orders for 2027 model-year vehicles. The main changes are a larger-capacity battery as standard across the lineup and a new Trail package for gravel and dirt roads. Ford's official announcement also reveals pricing, suspension changes and the ordering requirements for driver-assistance features.

88 or 91 kWh: Which Battery Does Each Version Get?

The Extended Range battery is now standard on every 2027-model-year Mustang Mach-E. Ford lists 88 kWh of usable capacity for the Select and Premium, and 91 kWh for the GT and Rally. Usable capacity is the energy available for operating the vehicle; it should not be confused with the battery's total capacity.

All-wheel-drive models also receive a new front electric motor. According to Ford, it costs less to manufacture while maintaining the previous performance characteristics. The company links this change to its ability to control the cost of making the larger battery standard. Ford does not promise any power increase from the motor change itself.

More Energy—but How Many Miles?

As of October 23, 2026, final EPA range estimates for the updated lineup had not been published. It is therefore too early to convert 88 kWh into a specific range figure. Battery capacity and driving range are different metrics: when comparing listings, look for data for the same version and the same testing cycle, not just the kWh figure.

What Does the Trail Package Include, and How Is It Related to the Rally?

Trail is a factory package available only for the Select eAWD. It costs $2,295 on top of the price of this all-wheel-drive version. Ford makes clear that it is neither a limited edition nor a kit installed by the dealer after purchase.

The package includes:

  • specially tuned springs and dampers that raise the body by 10 mm at the front and 15 mm at the rear compared with the Select and Premium;

  • the steering rack from the Mustang Mach-E Rally;

  • 19-inch wheels and Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires, also borrowed from the Rally;

  • a Carbon Black finish for the lower front bumper and Trail badging on the center armrest.

Ford describes the package for specific routes: a gravel road to a trailhead, a dirt access road to a campsite or a shoreline. This set of upgrades makes sense for drivers who regularly leave paved roads. However, sharing components with the Rally does not mean the two versions have identical characteristics.

Power Outlets at the Campsite: What Can You Run?

The Trail comes with 400-watt Pro Power Onboard. The outlets are located in the cargo area and behind the center console. Ford gives examples such as charging personal devices and powering campsite lights, a fan or a small pump.

The practical reference point is the appliance's power rating. For example, a kettle rated at 2,000 W exceeds this system's capabilities. A photo of the outlet and wording such as “external device power” is not enough to determine whether your equipment is compatible. The package and outlets are shown on the official Mustang Mach-E page.

BlueCruise: A Decision You Need to Make When Ordering

BlueCruise 1.5 is available on the Select with the Tech Pack Lite and on the Premium with the Premium Tech Pack. It is standard on the GT and Rally. For the applicable trims, Ford lists an included service period of one year plus 90 days.

Why You Cannot Simply “Turn It On Later”

For the Trail, BlueCruise hardware must be selected when the vehicle is ordered; it cannot be added later. Hardware preparation and payment for access to the service are separate requirements. When buying a vehicle already in stock, check both rather than relying only on activating a subscription later.

BlueCruise can assist with steering, braking and acceleration on supported roads, but it still requires the driver's attention. A camera monitors the direction of the driver's gaze and the position of their head. Ford provides access terms and a map of supported roads on the BlueCruise page.

Pricing and Timing: Orders Are Open, with Trail Deliveries to Follow

Ford's announced starting price for the 2027 Mustang Mach-E in the U.S. is $39,995 for the rear-wheel-drive Select. This excludes delivery, taxes and other fees listed by the manufacturer. It would be incorrect to add only $2,295 for the Trail: the package requires the Select eAWD rather than the base rear-wheel-drive vehicle.

Orders opened on October 22, 2026. Ford expects the first Trail-equipped vehicles to be delivered in the first quarter of 2027, while the online configurator for the 2027 model year is planned for early 2027. The company has not yet announced an exact date for the Trail to reach dealerships.

The prices and conditions listed here apply to the U.S. For a purchase in another country, check the local specification, Trail availability and the operation of connected services separately. The U.S. announcement alone does not confirm equivalent equipment or delivery timing in other markets.
