Both models will receive an 11-inch digital instrument cluster, an 11.3-inch central screen, and an expanded range of safety and driver-assistance systems. The Trailblazer also gets a redesigned center console, while a power liftgate becomes available for the Trax.
The Trailblazer Z71 has standard all-wheel drive, special suspension tuning, 17-inch wheels with sport-terrain tires, and steel protection for the front of the underbody. The Trax ACTIV remains front-wheel drive and differs mainly in its exterior styling and interior trim.
Chevrolet expects the Trax to go on sale in spring 2027 and the Trailblazer in late spring 2027. Exact calendar dates and prices have not yet been announced.
On October 8, 2026, Autoblog and Car and Driver published details about the 2027 Chevrolet Trax and Trailblazer updates. Both crossovers get larger screens and a broader range of electronic driver-assistance features. The Trailblazer also adds a Z71 version with all-wheel drive and upgrades for driving beyond paved roads.
These vehicles are intended for the US market. The Trax remains front-wheel drive in every trim, including ACTIV. That means choosing between it and the Trailblazer based only on exterior styling would be a mistake: the differences also involve the hardware.
What changed inside and in the equipment
Both models receive an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch central touchscreen. Updates to the electrical and software architecture have expanded the standard equipment: Chevrolet says more than 20 safety and driver-assistance features are included.

New features include automatic braking when reversing and at intersections, side bicycle detection, front parking sensors, and rear-seat seat-belt reminders. These changes can be useful when parking and driving in urban traffic, regardless of the selected exterior trim.
The Trailblazer's transmission selector has moved to the steering column. Chevrolet redesigned the center console, adding storage space and pop-out cupholders, while rear passengers get additional air vents. A power liftgate is now available for the Trax.
A seat that indicates the direction of danger
The Safety Alert Seat delivers warnings through vibrations on the left, right, or both sides of the driver's seat cushion. For example, when rear cross traffic is detected, the pulses can indicate which side the approaching vehicle is coming from. The Chevrolet Safety Alert Seat guide explains that the vibrations can be replaced with audible alerts. The intensity of the pulses cannot be adjusted, and an additional seat cushion may make them harder to feel.

On the official Trax page, the RS stands out with 19-inch wheels and a flat-bottom steering wheel. The ACTIV gets 18-inch wheels, its own grille, and an interior with orange accents. The ACTIV name alone does not indicate that all-wheel drive is available.

What the Trailblazer Z71 offers
The Z71 has specific technical differences: standard all-wheel drive, suspension tuned for off-road driving, 17-inch wheels with sport-terrain tires, and steel protection at the front of the underbody. This equipment is listed on the new Trailblazer page.

A 1.3-liter turbocharged engine becomes standard across the Trailblazer lineup; the previous 1.2-liter option is being discontinued. Therefore, the Z71 should primarily be considered for its drivetrain and chassis, not as a separate higher-output version.
Need all-wheel drive — do you have to choose the Z71?
No. It is also available on the Trailblazer LT and RS. Based on its equipment, the Z71 makes more sense for drivers who regularly use unpaved roads to a country home or recreation area and want protective hardware and special suspension tuning along with all-wheel drive. For mostly paved routes, it makes sense to compare the LT and RS with AWD first. Testing of production vehicles will show how comfortable and capable the Z71 is off-road.

When to expect the vehicles and what is known about pricing
As of October 9, 2026, Chevrolet lists spring 2027 for the Trax and late spring for the Trailblazer. Exact sales start dates have not been announced. The “2027” designation refers to the model year and does not mean that the updated vehicles are already at dealerships.
A complete official price list for the new trims has not yet been published: Chevrolet says in its questions-and-answers sections that pricing will be revealed closer to the vehicles' launch. It is therefore too early to estimate the Z71 premium or say that the updated models have become more expensive. For now, the technical choice is clear: the Trax with its new equipment, the Trailblazer LT or RS with AWD available as an option, or the Z71 with additional upgrades for unpaved roads.
